Nowadays, people constantly come to know about different interesting things every day. Even if we have previously experienced it, sometimes, it takes an internet post for us to realize it. One such revelation of sorts has been experienced by some internet users about their color blindness, or what is scientifically known as color deficiency. Recently, a TikTok video was posted online which showed the exact test that is used to investigate if any individual has a color deficiency impairment in their vision.
The TikTok Video
A user named dr.mfarr uploaded a video on the social media platform, giving viewers an idea of how the test functions and that he is color deficient. Showing a series of images from the Ishihara Chart, along with a voice-over, he explains that in each image, the viewer should be able to detect a number distinctly. Through that, two numbers are said to be seen in each image by different viewers, one number that is able to be seen by color blind people or those with a color deficiency, and the other by those with normal color vision. The comment section below the video testified that many other viewers had the same issue as dr.mfarr.
What Exactly Is Color Deficiency?
As per the NHS, what is more commonly known as color blindness is actually called color vision deficiency. This condition makes people who see colors struggle in telling various colors apart, as they see colors differently from most other people. Most often, people with color blindness or color deficiency have a hard time differentiating shades of green, red, and yellow; this specific condition is known as ‘red-green’ color vision. Another variant within this condition is the ‘blue-yellow’ deficiency, where yellows, greens, and blues are difficult to spot.
