There have been a few Fantastic Four movies in Hollywood history, and they’ve all been fantastic flops. At this point, the franchise is widely believed to be cursed, and most actors don’t want to get involved. However, there are still some who think things can be turned around for the Fantastic Four, and the story just needs to be handled correctly. Well, Marvel is taking another crack at a new Fantastic Four movie and has revealed the cast. However, fans are already disappointed, leaving us to wonder if the curse has already struck this production.
The Cast
Previous Fantastic Four stars include Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, and Kate Mara, all of whom probably wish they’d never been in the films – especially Jessica Alba. Well, the story’s newest victims are Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn. The film is set for a July 25th, 2025 release date, which may just be the date of death for the four actors’ careers. Marvel posted the announcement on Valentine’s Day writing, “Happy Valentine’s Day from Marvel’s First Family! Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn are The Fantastic Four.” According to Marvel’s post, Pascal will play Reed Richard/Mr. Fantastic, Kirby will take on the role of Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Quinn will portray Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Moss-Bachrach will be Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Fans’ Reactions
A few fans were happy about the casting choices. For example, one person wrote, “Joseph Quinn is gonna be awesome as Johnny!!” While another expressed, “Can’t wait for Pedro to play Richards!” A third penned, “Fantastic cast! It’s gonna be an exciting watch for sure.” However, many fans had questions about some of these choices and doubted that this Fantastic Four movie would fare better than the others. One person wrote, “I still wished they would’ve given us John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.”Another echoed, “John Krasinski and Emily Blunt you will always be my Reed Richards and Sue Storm.” Another individual offered a neutral opinion by writing, “Really wanted John Krasinski and Emily Blunt as Reed and Sue but I guess this will do. Ebon and Quinn are perfect for their roles.”
For those who are wondering why people are so invested in Krasinski and Blunt being in the film, it’s because Krasinski expressed interest in doing the movie, and he often works alongside his wife, Blunt. The actor had publicized, “I would love to be in the Marvel universe. I love those movies because they’re fun, but I also think they’re really well done. And certainly, a lot of my friends are in those movies. I have no idea what [Marvel] is thinking. But if they are considering me for Mr. Fantastic, continue to consider me because I would love it.” Unfortunately, Marvel didn’t seem to get the memo. Maybe that’s best for Krasinski and Blunt’s careers.
