Superman & Lois, the popular TV series, recently received a renewal for Season 4. However, like other shows returning to the CW, it will face budget cuts. Not only will Season 4 consist of only 10 episodes, but the main cast will also undergo significant reductions. Several actors, including Dylan Walsh as Sam Lane, have already been removed, and six more have been cut.
Main Cast Changes
According to the official report, Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarrette (Sarah Cortez), Wolé Parks (John Henry Irons), Tayler Buck (Natalie Irons), and Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo) are among the actors who will no longer be series regulars. However, they can return in recurring or guest roles. Tyler Hoechlin will continue portraying Clark Kent/Superman, while Elizabeth Tulloch will reprise her role as Lois Lane. Alex Garfin and Michael Bishop will also return as their characters, Jordan and Jonathan, respectively. Additionally, Michael Cudlitz, set to debut as Lex Luthor in the upcoming episodes, has been promoted to a series regular for Superman & Lois Season 4. It is unclear how the show will address the absence of the departing characters, but one speculation is that the Kents may move back to Metropolis, as the characters being cut are mainly associated with Smallville.
Continued Appearances and VFX
Although these actors are no longer series regulars, it doesn’t mean their characters will disappear entirely. There is a chance they may make occasional appearances throughout Season 4. The hope is that the budget cuts and reduced episode order will not adversely affect the show’s visual effects, which have been an integral part of Superman & Lois. Season 4’s official release date is yet to be announced. The remaining two episodes of Season 3, with the penultimate episode, titled Injustice, aired on June 20th at 8 pm ET on the CW.
